Foster an Advisor/Student Relationship

  • Constantly seek to improve the effectiveness of the advising session-nurture the advisor/student relationship, give accurate information, assist with major exploration and share resource and referral information
  • Increase individual and mass contact with advisees

Encourage Student Growth and Development

  • Increase percentage of students who make informed, realistic decisions about a major
  • Offer and discuss alternatives to encourage personal decision making
  • Assist students in developing a plan of action
  • Educate students about requirements
  • Encourage utilization of other resources
  • Be a positive role model

Improve Retention Rate of Students

  • Meet with all probation students and place advising codes on probation students
  • Develop a targeted, web-based program for probation students

 

Improve Advisor Skills

  • Expand training and professional development opportunities
  • Identify and share advising strategies/information at advisor meetings

 

Campus Collaboration

  • Continue to increase communication and programming with departments, services and key advisors
  • Be a student advocate
