University Open Option (OPUN)
Beginning fall semester 2008, all new freshmen and transfer students who have not declared a major will be classified as "Undeclared" and not University Open Option. Advising strategies remain the same. Continuing students will remain in University Open Option.
Advisor Resources
The Undecided Student: A Handbook for Academic Advisors has detailed information, including a brief explanation of the types of undecided and decided students, a model for major/career exploration, and suggestions on how to advise undecided students. In addition, there is information about various activities that you can utilize when working with a student, complete with facilitator guides.
The original copies of the student activities are located in the Major Exploration student activity book.
