Admit students interested in either human or animal health to Undeclared Life Sciences:  
(UNLS) - formerly LSOP

Freshmen:  Index of 118 or higher, space allowing.

Once enrollment cap is reached, place into *Major Code To-Be-Announced*. Biomedical Sciences will inform Admissions when cap is reached.

Enrollment cap has been reached for Fall 2008.  No “change of majors” can occur during Preview.

Transfer:

  • GPA of a 3.3 in fewer than 60 credits.
  • Grades of B or better in:

1) LIFE 102 (Attributes of Living Systems), and
2) CHEM 111/112 (General Chem I/Lab)
*Students who meet the above criteria are placed into *UNLS* – transfers are not admitted to Biomedical Sciences directly – department will determine space availability & admission into program. TBD how we’ll distinguish between those who meet & don’t meet controls.
2nd BA: Not eligible for admission into program at this time – recommend UNLS.
Returning:  If student left in BIOM-BS, admit back into program; if not, use transfer guidelines.

Business

Freshmen: Index of 111 or higher.

Transfer/2nd BA:

  • 3.0 GPA with a min. of 15 credits.
  • Grades of B- or better in:

1) Calculus (MATH 141), and
2) Microeconomics (ECON 202)
30 credit limit
Returning: If original major was different, must meet the admission requirements for continuing students.

Completion of transfer controls by the semester in which the student completes 30 graded credits at CSU (45 credits for first-time freshmen).

Returning: Must meet the admission requirements for continuing students.

  • Grades of C or better in 1) Java Programming (CS153) or CS 160 AND 2) Calculus (MATH 160)

 

*Students showing exceptional promise and improvement but who have a low GPA may submit a written petition to the CS department. Students must have completed required coursework. Exceptions may be made in very rare circumstances.

Admit students to Undeclared-Exploring Physical & Mathematical Sciences/Engineering:

Freshmen: 

  • 105 index or higher,
  • 3.3 GPA OR 70%-ile
  • 22 ACT OR 1000 SAT composite
  • 23 OR 520 math        
  • One semester of trigonometry or precalculus
  • One year of chemistry or physics

Courses can be in-progress to satisfy controls

Exceptions:
Provided they meet the above math and science requirements -

    • Students with a H.S. GPA of 3.9 or above or class rank in the top 2% are admissible regardless of test scores or Index.
    • Students with a H.S. GPA of 2.8-3.0 can be admitted if their Index is 115 or higher.

Transfer:

  • 2.5 GPA* in 16 or more credits applicable to Engineering
  • Minimum B/C* combination in:

1)  (MATH160) and
2) Calculus-based Physics (PH141) OR Chemistry (CHEM111/112).
Courses must be completed  to satisfy controls
*Mechanical Engineering:

  • 3.0 GPA in 16 Engineering credits
  • Grades of B or better in the above course requirements

2nd Bachelors:

  • 2.3 GPA in first degree
  • For Mechanical Engineering, transfer controls must be met

Returning:  Must meet internal transfer controls.

Chemical/Biological:  16 CSU credits including MATH160 and PH141 and CHEM111/112 with at least one B and nothing lower than C in the other courses, (minuses possible).  2.3 cum GPA.
Civil/Environmental: 16 CSU credits, including MATH160, and either PH141 or CHEM111/112 with at least one B and one C, 2.3 cum GPA. Math and science must be taken at CSU or student takes next higher level at CSU with B/C grade combination. (Minuses OK)
Electrical/Computer:
16 CSU credits including PH141, and MATH160 with a minimum of B (no minuses) in each. 2.3 GPA.
Mechanical:  16 CSU credits, including MATH 160 and either PH141 OR CHEM111/112 with a B/C (no minuses), cum GPA of 2.75.
Eng.Science: 16 CSU credits including MATH160 and either PH141 or CHEM111/112 with one B, nothing lower than C in others, 2.3 cum GPA.

Technical Journalism
(TEJR-BA)

Does Not Meet Controls
Admit student to Undeclared-Exploring Arts & Humanities:
(UNLA) – formerly OPTJ

Freshmen: Index of 107 or higher.

Transfer/2nd BA:

  • 2.5 GPA
  • Grades of C or better in:

1) Introduction to Mass Media (JTC100) and
2) Newswriting (JTC210)
(JOU 105/JOU 106 are equivalent to JTC 100 and JTC 210 if taken at a Colorado institution.)
Returning: If previous major was not Technical Journalism, must meet internal transfer controls.

2.9 CSU cumulative GPA in a minimum of 12 credits

B/C combination (no minuses) in :

        1) JTC100 and
        2) JTC210

 

 

 

 

Post Enrollment Controls

The following majors have additional requirements which must be satisfied once the student enrolls
in order to continue in that major.

Requirements for
Continuing Students (Internal Controls)

Apparel & Merchandising
(APAM)
Apparel Design and Production concentration (APAM-ADAZ-BS) **Merchandising concentration does not require a Portfolio Review.

Must satisfactorily complete course work and participate in a selective design activity during spring semester. Portfolio review: See department for requirements and due date/time;  AM143 required; 2.5 cumulative GPA on all CSU AND transfer credits.

Construction Management

Starting for the SM08 term, all applicants are placed into
Pre-Construction Management (CTM0)

No minors will be offered beginning FA08.

The admission requirements for construction management are: 15 CSU credit hours, 2.75 GPA, CO 150 (B or better), MATH 125 (C or better) and CON 101 (B or better). At the end of the semester a list of students that have met these requirements will be compiled. There will be a percentage for each one of the requirements. The top students based on an enrollment number will be admitted to the major (CTMG-BS). 

Education:

Teacher License in Social Studies/History major

All students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA to be admitted to this licensure program. (All other licensure programs require a minimum GPA of 2.75.)

Human Development and Family Studies

(HDFS-BS)

Registered in or completed PSY100 and SOC100.

Interior Design

(INTD-BS)

Design Scenario review requires IDTD 129 and 166. ART101 and CON151 must be completed prior to fall of the sophomore year and may be taken in the summer, if offered. 2.5 GPA requirement.

Landscape Architecture

All applicants are placed into

Pre-Landscape Architecture: (LDA0)

To continue in the major, students must submit an application and portfolio to take LAND230 (space available, fall only). See department for application.

Music (MUSC series)

All applicants are placed into

Pre-Music:  (MUS0)

Audition in area of specialty required. Minimum of C grades in music courses used for major.

Political Science

(POLS-BA)

Student must take two Political Science courses with at least a B/C combination.  2.0 cum GPA.  Student then applies to POLS.
