PREVIEW ADVISING INFORMATION

for Advisers

Automatic Admission
Students admitted to CSU with an index of 135 or higher AND a high school GPA of 3.8 or better are automatically admitted to the Honors program.  These students do not need to submit an Honors Program application.  Boettcher Finalists & Scholars, Monfort Scholars, and National Merit Finalists are also granted automatic admission.

Invitations to Apply
Students admitted to CSU with an index of 125 to 134 are invited to apply to the Honors Program.  Students who do not receive an invitation to apply to the Honors Program can also apply.  On-line applications are preferred.

Honors Parent and Student Presentation – Day One
There is a mandatory Honors presentation for students and parents at 6 pm on the evening of Day 1 of Preview.  All Honors students must attend this presentation.

Honors Advising and Registration
We suggest that students meet their college adviser and attend the college presentation on the morning of Day 2 but they register for classes with us.  It is up to the college adviser when to send the students to Honors (Eddy 118) to register. We are in Eddy all day, and will register students when they show up.

Track 1 and Track 2
We review each student’s AP/IB/transfer courses with them on the evening of Day I and will make a recommendation about which Honors curriculum is most appropriate for them but we leave the final decision to the student.

The Honors Track 1 core curriculum fulfills all AUCC categories EXCEPT Mathematics (1B), Biological/Physical Sciences (3A) and three credits of Arts/Humanities (3B).    Track 1 students will sign up for a 4-credit Honors seminar (HONR 192).

Track 2 students will complete the standard AUCC core and sign up for a 1-credit IU193 Honors section.
