Notes on Music from Preview Advisor Training, 2009

All students must audition in order to enter either the music major or minor. Admission into the major requires both general admission by the University and acceptance via audition into the specific area (i.e music education, therapy, performance, composition).

Students need to sign up for auditions on the first day of class. The auditions are held the first week of the semester. For further information, visit:
http://www.music.colostate.edu/auditions/musicmajors.asp

The department is highly selective.

The minor is now performance based and students will be taking either MU100 or 111, not 117-118.

No overrides into MU 111, 117 or 118.

Joann Cornell is the pre-music advisor, and our Preview contact. Phone is 491-3117.

Ensemble auditions take place the first day of class. A student does not need to be a music major to play in an ensemble. Audition sign-up sheets for ensembles will be posted the week before classes start. Check in room 120 University Center for the Arts (main office) for the exact location of the audition sign-up sheet per ensemble.

For marching band, contact the music department as soon as possible since they start practicing the week before classes begin. Karen Oxley is the contact person. Her phone: 491-5973.
