Occupational Therapists (OTs) work with people of all ages to enhance their performance of important everyday activities (occupations) despite the effects of illness, disability, or injury. The OT utilizes a variety of strategies and is a skilled problem solver who is committed to finding ways to enable people to lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives. In addition to dealing with an individual's physical well being, OTs address psychological, social, and environmental factors. This unique perspective makes OT an important aspect of the human service profession. Their work is often closely coordinated with other professionals such as a physical therapists, speech/language pathologists, social workers, and teachers because all these fields involve improving an individual's ability to participate in everyday occupations.
