Jim is an Assistant Director for Health Professions Advising in the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA) and the faculty/staff advisor for Premedica.  He is a Colorado native (Grand Junction) and received his undergraduate degree from Colorado State. He has been involved with advising for over 30 years and worked at Western Illinois University, the University of Utah and the University of Northern Colorado prior to his return to CSU in 1999.  His specific areas of expertise in advising health professions students is working with students who want to be physicians (MD or DO), Podiatrists (DPM), or Physician Assistants (PA).  Students can make appointments with Jim by calling the office at (970) 491-7095.

Carter Mohnssen is a sophomore Biomedical Sciences major from Colorado Springs, Colorado. His future goals are to become a surgeon and provide medical care to the underprivileged and underrepresented people groups in the Middle East. Carter loves reading and is studying Arabic in his free time, and also enjoys basketball, golf, and all of the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer, such as kayaking and snowboarding. He is an officer because he wants to see Premedica grow to be one of the foremost student organizations on campus.

Brooke Bredbeck hails from the great suburb of Centennial, CO. She is double-majoring in Biology and Spanish and minoring in Biomedical Sciences. Her life’s goal is to attend medical school and to be a trauma surgeon, and hopefully to work with Doctors Without Borders and advocate for underrepresented populations. In her free time Brooke enjoys reading as many books as possible, participating in activities related to the outdoors, exploring great music, working out, and especially being with her friends.

Born and raised in Colorado, Tate Van Winkle naturally loves being outdoors and soaking up the sun. After spending her freshman year at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, Tate transferred to CSU. She is currently a junior at CSU majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Biomedical Sciences. Since the move to Fort Colins, she became very involved on campus and with Premedica. Her goal in life is to volunteer in the Peace Corps before attending medical school to become a pediatric oncologist. Tate also hopes to have the opportunity to help find solutions to health care disparities within minority groups. Outside of school, she has a passion for running, reading, spending time outside, and enjoying the company of her good friends and family.

Brenna Benson is a sophomore Biomedical Sciences major and Spanish minor from Arvada, Colorado. As an individual who has always been excited by various injuries, diseases, and learning, medical school is her biggest aspiration thus far. She wishes to go on to use her medical and spanish skills to participate in Doctors Without Borders to help underprivileged citizens in third world countries. Her hobbies include studying in the library, taking naps in the library, running, swimming, hanging out with friends, and snowboarding. Hi guys! My name is Dana Casalino, and I’m a junior biology major this year. Rubab and I are going to be this years Half Day With a Doctor’s chairs. We’ll be matching you up to shadow a doctor in your preferred specialty. Last year, I transferred from Eastern Illinois University, and am originally from the north side of Chicago. When I’m not studying or volunteering, I love to camp,travel, swim, read, and sing in the University Women’s Choir. And my favorite movie is Across the Universe. I’m so excited to get to know all of you, and have a great school year!
