Advising Tips
- Give a list of Applied Human Sciences majors
- Explain All-University Core Curriculum requirements or restrictions:
- APAM - Portfolio Review Process for Apparel Design
- Apparel and Merchandising students must earn a letter grade of C- or better in all of the following courses: AM 101, AM 130, DM 120, AM 270, and DM 272.
- Apparel and Merchandising students must earn a letter grade of B or better in the following courses: MATH 117, MATH 118, MATH 124. - INTD - Portfolio Review Process
- RARM - 2.7 cum GPA, completion of FSHN 150 & CHEM 107 with C or better

CTMG - 2.3 cum GPA requirement must be achieved by summer 2008 to declare major
Beginning summer semester 2008, students must meet the following requirements to be eligible to apply to the Department of Construction Management.The department will then choose the top 100 applicants each semester:
- Completion of 15 graded credits at CSU
- Earn a 2.75 cum GPA
- Completion of CON 101 and earn a B or better
- Completion of CO 150 and earn a B or better
- Completion of MATH 125 and earn a C or better
Freshmen admits must meet requirements by 45 credits.
Transfer admits must meet requirements by 30 credits.
- Explore if they are interested in a given field of study or major, and identify courses within this area
- Help them identify areas they have enjoyed in the past
- Ease fear of decision-making
- Help list pros and cons of majors to aid in comparison of programs
- When ready to declare, explain the change of major process
- Inform students that they should declare a major by 45 credits
- Have them review the College of Applied Human Sciences majors in the catalog
- Introduce CSU Success folder and emphasize academic support services
- Share check sheets, key advisor’s names and if available, peer advisor’s names
- Encourage them to visit with human services agencies at the Fall and Spring Career Fairs
- Refer to the Career Center
- Encourage them to do informational interviews with key advisors and peer advisors to identify individuals in the field to interview
