WITHDRAWALS
There are different types of “withdrawals” a student may do. Listed below are examples for each type. Please pay special attention to the various descriptions to ensure you are using the correct process to best meet your academic needs.
- Drop an individual course – This does not apply to dropping ALL courses. Students may drop a course within the course’s drop / add period, which is notated on the University Class Schedule and typically occurs only at the beginning of the semester. If it is during the course’s drop period, students can drop the class on RamWeb
- Withdraw from a Course – Students can withdraw from a course until the 8th week of the semester (except where otherwise noted). A “W” will appear as the grade on the student’s transcript, which does not factor into the GPA. This can also be done on RamWeb.
- University Withdrawal – Students needing to leave the university for the semester and not complete any of their registered courses can complete a university withdrawal. Students must contact CASA in Aylesworth Hall or call 491-7095 in order to withdraw.
- Called to Active Military Duty – Any student reservist called to active military duty.
- Retroactive Withdrawal – May be granted only when a student could neither function normally during the academic period nor be reasonably expected to complete a university withdrawal due to extenuating circumstances such as an incident leading to major physical or mental trauma. Students must meet with an advisor in CASA to determine eligibility.
- Add/Drop a Course: Periods for changing schedules (adds, drops, changes of sections, grading options, or credits) are listed in the on-line class schedule. Courses dropped during this period are not reflected on the student’s academic record, and tuition and fees may be adjusted as a result. Consult the appropriate on-line class schedule for course drop deadlines.
