Registration:

What is a "hold" on a student's registration?

Academic and administrative offices can place HOLDS on your registration, and when the registration system is accessed, the student will be prevented from registering or changing your registration schedule.
HOLDS are placed for a variety of reasons (academic, financial, etc.). Failure to meet a payment deadline will result in a financial HOLD, which will prevent adds for a registered student. Each HOLD and the office involved (including office locations) will be displayed by the registration system.

The student must clear each HOLD with the office involved. Once the HOLD has been cleared with the appropriate offices, the HOLD will be removed from the registration system.

If a HOLD is placed on a student's registration after s/he hasregistered, the registration will not be automatically cancelled. However, the student will not have access to the registration system to adjust her/his schedule or to register for subsequent terms until the HOLD is cleared.

HOLDS do not extend other deadlines and must be cleared prior to deadlines or adds will not be authorized.
