Academic Difficulty:

If a student is struggling academically, what resources are available?

First, the student should speak with her/his instructor. Perhaps the instructor has time to help or can refer the student to the best resources.

If the instructor is not available, there are other options including study halls and private tutoring. Students should meet with their instructors to learn if there are tutors available for a particular course. Students may also go to a departmental office to learn if there is a list of tutors available for that department's courses.

If, for some reason, it will not be possible to finish the course successfully, the student should drop the course. Of course, once the drop period is over, withdrawal may be the best option. PLEASE consult an academic adviser at the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA), 491-7095.
